FLASH FLOOD WATCH
ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES

THIS IS FOR THE LEEWARD ISLANDS

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH WILL GO INTO EFFECT FROM 6 P.M TONIGHT FOR LOW LYING AND FLOOD PRONE AREAS OF ANTIGUA, BARBUDA, MONTSERRAT, ST. KITTS, NEVIS, AND ANGUILLA. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT MODERATE TO MAJOR FLOODING IS POSSIBLE BUT NOT IMMINENT IN THE WATCH AREA. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

RESIDENTS IN LOW LYING AND FLOOD PRONE AREAS SHOULD MAKE PREPARATIONS FOR FLOODING TO SAFE GUARD LIFE AND PROPERTY. THEY SHOULD BE PREPARED TO MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IF FLOODING RAINS DEVELOP OR A FLASH FLOOD WARNING IS ISSUED.

HURRICANE TAMMY IS APPROACHING THE LEEWARD ISLANDS AND CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BEGIN DETERIORATING FROM TONIGHT AND INTO TOMORROW MORNING CAUSING HEAVY SHOWERS RESULTING IN RAINFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 4 TO 8 INCHES WITH ISOLATED MAXIMUM AMOUNTS UP TO 12 INCHES; HENCE, MODERATE TO MAJOR FLOODING OF LOW LYING AND FLOOD PRONE AREAS ARE POSSIBLE. BE ADVISED THAT A FLASH FLOOD WARNING COULD GO INTO EFFECT AT SHORT NOTICE.
