FOR THE LEEWARD ISLANDS AND BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS
ISSUED BY ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES

15:49 UTC JANUARY 21 2019

DISCUSSION: THIS MORNING, A LOW LEVEL TROUGH CAUSED CONTINUED UNSETTLED WEATHER ACROSS THE LEEWARD ISLANDS. THIS RESULTED IN SHOWERS ACROSS ANTIGUA, BARBUDA AND MONTSERRAT. RAINFALL ACCUMULATIONS AMOUNTED TO 2 MM (0.08 IN) IN SOME AREAS. BASED ON THE LATEST OBSERVATIONS, ANALYSES AND MODEL DATA, MORE SHOWERS ARE LIKELY ACROSS THE MENTIONED ISLANDS. MORE SHOWERS ARE ALSO LIKELY ACROSS THE REST OF THE LEEWARD ISLANDS TODAY AND WILL MOVE TO THE BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS TONIGHT. POSSIBLE RAINFALL ACCUMULATIONS THROUGH 8 AM TOMORROW IS 3 TO 20 (0.10-0.80 IN), WITH THE HIGHER TOTALS POSSIBLE ACROSS ANGUILLA AND THE BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS. THE LASTEST ASSESSMENT IS GENERALLY IN HARMONY WITH THE LAST ISSUED FORECASTS; THE EXCEPTION IS FOR THE BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS, WHERE THE HIGH CHANCE OF SHOWERS IS FOR TONIGHT INSTEAD TO TODAY - THESE ADJUSTMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE.
