PRECIPITATION
Rainfall across Antigua and Barbuda and indeed the rest of the
Caribbean was above normal. Across Antigua and Barbuda, the
rainfall was some 24 % above the 45-year normal of 46 inches.
There was in effect no dry season as rain fell steadily from month to
month. In all 1251.1 millimeters or 49.26 inches were recorded at
V.C Bird Int'l with a max 24-hour rainfall of 65.5 millimeters
on the 19/11/2004, and a max 6-hour rainfall of 38.4 millimeters on 14/09/2004 at
18:00 .
Notably, only a small amount of rainfall was as a result of storms,
which did not have any real effect on Antigua and Barbuda. The
maximum monthly
rainfall occurred in October, 9.81 inches, with November and May
contributing 7.42 inches each. May, which in recent times failed
to produce the significant rainfall for which it is known, was quite wet
across the islands leading to flooding in some areas.
The month of August was the notable dry month across the islands with
1.71 inches, down from an average of about 4 inches.

Rainfall data from other rainfall stations
Rainfall across the islands showed a great degree of monthly pattern
consistency as seen below.
